‘The Snowy Day’ had been nominated for an amazing 5 categories and the special ended up taking home the awards for ‘Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animation’ and ‘Outstanding Music Direction and Composition’, thanks to our wonderful soundtrack by Kris Bowers and Rosanna Wright.

The 38-minute holiday special for Amazon Studios was directed and produced at our studio here in London, animated using CelAction 2D. Working with the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation, we worked to carefully adapt the art style of the original book to recreate a timeless Brooklyn setting in what was our studio’s largest, most ambitious production to date.

Huge congratulations to the whole team for their hard work. What amazing recognition, eh?

“Receiving an Emmy for our work on The Snowy Day is really thrilling,” says Co-Director Jamie Badminton. “We’re so very proud to be flying the flag for the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation and to bring a story that’s special to so many people to life. Standalone TV specials are rarely made, so we’re so pleased Amazon Studios saw the potential in the book and trusted Karrot to help realise the iconic story of Peter’s day in the snow for a fresh generation”

If you haven’t watched The Snowy Day yet, it’s still available on Amazon Prime.
