Karrot were approached by Sky Kids to develop and produce a new show based upon the beloved Ten Little picture book series by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty! Ten Little…Who? Went into production in late 2023 and kicked off with a Christmas special based upon the hugely popular Ten Little Elves book.
The series consisted of 14 episodes based upon the books, featuring Ten Little Pirates, Penguins, Dinosaurs, Robots, Pumpkins and all the favourites!
A further 12 episodes were created from scratch, rounding things out to 26. For these new stories we combined characters from the different books and created new team ups, like Ten Little Athletes, Rockstars, Rescuers and Magicians!
Key to the success of the show was translating the sheer amount of chaos and hilarity that happens across every double page spread. We utilised the counting formula and dived into the concept that each set of ‘Littles’ would be very vocal and give us their own commentary throughout the story. The characters tell each other jokes and give their unique take on what’s going on, all while the story plays out. We hoped this would emulate and reflect many kid’s experiences, when reading the books at home.
Karrot were across the entire production, developing the initial concept and then handling the complete pipeline. We worked closely with the Sky team throughout and with the amazing Yolanda Brown on music! Karrot had a blast bringing the show to life!
