The whole Karrot Animation team have been busy for some time producing a pilot for parent company Karrot Entertainment to launch ‘Sarah and Duck’, their first children’s pre-school property. A 40 x 7 minute TV series is due to launch in Autumn/Fall 2012, and we were lucky enough to preview the show to a busy cinema at Cartoon Forum, the premier European animation pitching event, now in it’s 35th year.
We’re delighted to say the project received a warm reception amongst the 60 projects being presented. Creator Sarah Gomes Harris introduced her characters, raising huge laughs with her comic strip recreation of their evolution, then Karrot directors Tim O’Sullivan, Jamie Badminton and Chris White introduced the receptive audience to the world and stories we aim to bring to life.
In the series, Sarah is a 7 year old girl with big eyes and a green hat, who lives with her quacky, flappy, slightly manic but endearing best friend, Duck. The pair embark on simple but exciting adventures, exploring the world both near and far in their own wobbly and imaginative way.
We are currently talking to broadcasters, investors and distributors to finalise homes around the world for our show, but wanted to share a few pictures with you from our European launch (also featuring our wonderful moderator Theresa Plummer-Andrews). A full account of our pitch session and the days building up to it can be found in the November 2010 issue of Imagine Magazine in the UK!
